DEFINITION OF GIFTED STUDENT (INTELLECTUAL GIFTEDNESS)
Our training and experience has led us to define the gifted student (intellectual giftedness) according to 3 approaches:
APPROACH A
- His/her intellectual functioning is significantly above average.
- The general intellectual capacity is stated by the intelligence quotient (IQ or any equivalent measurement to IQ which has been obtained by the evaluation of one or more standarized Intelligence Tests).
APPROACH B
- It deals with a higher level of maturity in the process of information (Visual memory and visual perception), development of the precocious metacognitive capacity (from about 6 years), "insight" for problem solving, creativity, motivation for learning, precocity and talent.
