PRELIMINAR RESULTS FROM THE OBSERVATIONAL TABLE OF INTELLECTUAL GIFTEDNESS SCREENING. STUDY IN SPAIN:

  1. After counting up the pbserved data, the number of selected children by applying the Observational Table is 63; which means that 8’5% individuals from the polled population (63/738) have produced a positive result from the screening method.
  2. The application of diagnosis techniques has confirmed the existence of intellectual giftedness in 16 individuals from the 63 selected children; considering gifted, as it is accurately expliained in the Project, that individual with an abouve 129 IQ.
  3. The percentage of intellectual giftedness is about 2’2%-3% from general population, so that, taking into account the number of the polled individuals (738 children),a total from 16 to 22 gifted children is expected to be identified.
  4. Therefore, the observational table has proved to serve to select from 72% to 100% gifted children of the studied sample (16/22 – 16/16).
  5. The number of gifted children who would pass unnoticed using sucha screening method is between 0-6.
  6. The observational Table provides effective and efficient results, because 3 out of every 4 intellectuallly gifted children can be selected using it, and because its application implies the use of individualized diagnosis techniques only for 8’5% of the polled population.
