It was established in 1989 by Dr. Yolanda Benito. The "Huerta del Rey" is concerned about: Screening and identification (e.g., developing national and regional screening and identification tools such as the Spanish version of SRBCSS), public awareness and follow-up activities and networking, developing gifted programmes and special provisions designed to meet the special needs of the gifted and talented children in Spain and the region (e.g., enrichment activities, youth meetings, summer programmes), research and evaluation studies (e.g., cross-cultural studies, and the impact of enrichment activities on students’ achievement and creativity), training and capacity building, and publications and translated materials. The Huerta del Rey Centre has significantly contributed to the advancement of this field of knowledge in Spain, and established a strong international network.
